Garden design in Jesús Pobre (Dénia, Alicante)

Back

Technicians from the Montgo Natural Park were required to supervise this project as the garden is inside the park.

The owners had a property with a conventional garden and an adjacent 4,000 m² plot. Due to the proximity of the natural park, they needed and were motivated enough to decide to create an all-natural garden.

We removed exotic plants and encouraged native species in the original garden near the house. We redesigned the entrance drive to the house with a line of hundred-year-old olive trees alternating with cypress and lavender right up to the house.

We used limestone rocks to create rockeries planted with rock plants. We also designed a Muslim-inspired garden with bitter orange trees and medicinal and aromatic plants. We placed a unique ornamental feature - a central fountain made from Alicante marble by a local sculptor, Mr Navas.

It was critical to build a pond to attract birds and create a haven of peace and wildlife.

We also introduced agricultural species like orange, almond, olive, carob, pomegranate, custard apple, vines and even a cereal field. We intended to recreate a traditional-farming plot with a variety of species and integrate the wind into the movements and textures of the cereal.
